With our headquarters in Toronto, Ontario, Canada, we are well positioned to handle all transport needs to and from Asia, Europe, the United States, South America, and other global locations. For our customer’s convenience, we also have branch offices in Richmond and Vancouver, British Columbia, and Montreal, Quebec.

We are a member of the Canadian International Freight Forwarders Association (CIFFA), the International Air Transport Association (IATA) and our team members are involved in the Canadian Institute of Traffic and Transportation (CITT)

Canaan Transport Group Incorporated History

1981

The late Paul Lo incorporates Canaan Shipping Co. Ltd., a freight forwarding company in Vancouver, BC Canada. Company’s office is inside the historic Rogers Building on Granville Street.

1982

Canaan Shipping Co. Ltd. successfully signs long term freight forwarding contracts with a large number of Japanese Trading Companies to provide export services for forestry products to Japan.

1985

Canaan Shipping Co. Ltd. becomes a licensed I.A.T.A. (International Air Transportation Association) Cargo Agent.

1986

Sea-Air program initialized.

1988

Modern Terminal Ltd. is founded by the late Paul Lo to provide CFS (Container Freight Station), warehousing, and storage solutions in Vancouver, BC, Canada. Both companies moved to Terminal Avenue. Modern Terminal Ltd. specializes in lumber and container loading.

1990

Canaan Shipping Co. Ltd. and Modern Terminal Ltd. moves into 275 West 1st Avenue on a 3.84 acre facility specifically designed to handle bulk cargo.

1991

Canaan Shipping Co. Ltd. inaugurates regular LCL and FCL cargo from China to Canada.

1993

Canaan Shipping Co. Ltd. opens branch office in Toronto

1995

Canaan Shipping Co. Ltd. opens partner office in Montreal

2002

Connextions quarterly newsletter begins publication.

2005

Canaan Transport Group Incorporated is incorporated and immediately receives Canada Border Services Agency / Canada Customs’ permission to act as a licensed Customs Broker throughout Canada.

2007

Canaan Transport Group Incorporated moves into a custom built, brand new warehouse facility in Richmond, BC Canada located on 7 acres and all companies are rebranded under the Canaan Transport Group Incorporated umbrella organization.
Canaan Transport Group Incorporated becomes a Canada Customs Sufferance and Bonded Facility.

2008

Canaan Transport Group Incorporated opens a retail business service centre in downtown Vancouver.
Canaan Transport Group Incorporated relocates its global headquarters to Toronto, Ontario, the largest metropolitan area in Canada.

2009

Canaan Transport Group Incorporated becomes a member of CIFFA (Canadian International Freight Forwarders Association).

2010

Track and Trace online functionality developed and launched.

2011

Canaan Transport Group Incorporated is profiled in the South China Morning Post’s profile on Canada. One of only a select few Canadian companies to receive such an honour.
